Eye CATCHING

It’s official: sunglasses season is in full swing.

To help you find your next go-to frames, we tapped Elleni Muluneh, licensed optician and boutique manager for Morgenthal Frederics along with Matthew Sakolsky, licensed optician and brand manager since 1997. Their hope when you come into the boutique? “The ultimate goal is to feel confident and comfortable, and to see with crystal clear vision,” says Sakolsky. Read on as they walk us through the best frames for your specific face shape—find them at CityCenterDC.

SUNGLASSES GUIDE

Heart-Shaped Face

“Angular horn styles with playful color fades or textures like Eliza Horn or Ava Horn could be very beautiful on this face shape,” says Muluneh. “Rounded frames like the Maki or The Sudder can provide great balance, or a rimless style like Ma Rimless Piece 4 could prove to be an interesting option.”

SUNGLASSES GUIDE

Square Face Shape

“You may consider clean lines and organic curves, Ma Piece 3 Horn, 74, Kisho, or The Lifesaver Sun to complement a square face shape,” says Sakolsky. “We’d look to choose frames wider than the middle of the face that sit elevated on the nose.”

SUNGLASSES GUIDE

Oval Face Shape

“Personal style will be a big factor here as I can find many frames to complement an oval face,” says Muluneh. “We may consider a modern cat eye like the Ma Piece 9 Horn, a bold look like Freeman or a geometric statement piece like The Ninety-One.”

SUNGLASSES GUIDE

Round Face Shape

“Let’s play with eye-catching angles like a bold rectangular style as seen with Steve, a tailored square such as the Hughes, a geometric gem found in the The Ninety-Six, or an elevated cat eye as exemplified by the Emerald or Nicole,” says Sakolsky.
