CityCenterDC’s exclusive contest has your Valentine’s Day gifting covered
Nothing is more classic—or considered—than gifting flowers to your loved one on Valentine’s Day. And just ahead of February 14th, CityCenterDC has collaborated with revered local florist and design house Amaryllis on an exclusive contest to win a custom arrangement. A Behind-The-Scenes Look
A near 20-year veteran of the industry, Amaryllis’ Principal Event Designer Christopher Vazquez sees florals as the rightful expressive element they are. “It’s a beautiful medium of art,” he says. “Working with blooms, colors and textures is a wonderful gift.”
Taking a holistic approach to how florals fit in one’s space, Vazquez work is inspired by those who’ve dedicated themselves to creating environments and interiors, including San Francisco’s Ken Fulk and local talent like Darryl Carter.
Given his propensity for pushing the limits in the floral realm, it’s no surprise that, for CityCenterDC’s custom piece, he’d create something more unexpected than the typical dozen red roses. “For this arrangement, we wanted to work with exquisite, luxurious blooms: ranunculus, garden roses, lilac, Japanese anemones and double bloom tulips,” says Vazquez. The result? Pure elegance, bolstered by interesting textures, beautiful movement and an undeniable sense of romance.
